VISION OF THE
TIFAC-CORE
This CORE will not only
produce quality manpower of international standard but fired with imagination, vision and creativity, will also bring in a
paradigm shift in the traditional approach to higher education.
The main activity envisaged in the industrial biotechnology laboratory are bioremediation,
biosorption, fermentation, enzyme production and downstream processing in view of tertiary treatment of industrial effluents
being difficult and non-availability of expertise in industry. The biotechnology route offers a promising alternative. Development
of fungal/bacterial strains, augmenting them to suit the industrial purposes, optimization of process, parameters of industrial
fermentation, phytoremediation and its efficiency, conversion of organic waste to biofertilizer are the main areas of interest.
This industrial biotechnology center will be a model for advanced industrial research and an expertise center of higher learning
in the area of biotechnology. The CORE will be the “nucleus” for innovative technologies and will identify, recognize
and implement worthy innovations in the area of industrial biotechnology.
